AAA predicts more than one-third of Americans will travel this holiday season and about 102 million of them will be traveling by car. This is the highest number ever expected and it will undoubtedly result in gridlock on the roads. That brings us to this bizarre dashcam video which shows you how not to avoid traffic jams.
Apparently filmed in Russia earlier this week, the clip shows a number of cars stuck in traffic on a two-lane road. The backup must have gotten on the nerves of one driver, because they decided to use a shortcut.
While this would normally involve taking the next exit and trying to get ahead of the traffic jam, the driver decided to take the nearest available option – the median. This normally won’t be too much of an issue, aside from illegality, but the grass was covered by deep snow.

Our fearless driver must have thought their crossover could handle it and they were right – up until a point. As you can see, the snow isn’t an issue as the crossover speeds up the median and passes a number of cars stuck in traffic. However, things quickly go wrong.
Due to the snow, the driver can’t see hidden obstacles and this is a major problem as the median suddenly drops off. The driver notices this too late and begins to brake at the last possible moment.
Their effort is in vain as the crossover plunges down the embankment and appears to roll over onto its roof. The video ends shortly thereafter, but you can see at least one person begin to exit their vehicle and, presumably, go check on the driver.
