Yes, taste is a highly subjective thing, but we believe that Aston Martin should draw a red line as far as customization of a vehicle as arresting as the Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake is concerned.

Deliveries of the limited-edition Shooting Brake commenced recently and Aston Martin chief executive Andy Palmer took to Instagram to publish a couple of images of a pink example. You know, the kind of color best suited to Barbie than a beautiful car from a renowned British automaker.

Due to the exclusivity of the Zagato Shooting Brake and the fact that each unit costs over half a million dollars, the automaker will happily paint the car in pretty much any color imaginable. That means the person that ordered this example had the option of painting it in colors such as dark blue, dark red (like the car it’s pictured next to), or even potentially in a matte finish. Instead, of all the options available, they chose pink…

While we think the color choice is horrid, we completely understand why someone would want to purchase the Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake. Not only is it limited to just 99 units worldwide, but it is also one of the most beautiful cars produced by Aston Martin in recent memory.

Will this make it less desirable when the come times to offload it? We do not know but, evidently, resale value wasn’t at the top of this customer’s priorities.

My Friday factory walk (Gemba) and I came across this beautiful Zagato Shooting Brake about to be shipped. It’s certainly going to stand out for a lucky customer.
