2019 Abarth 595 And 124 Spider Celebrate The Brand’s 70th Anniversary

Abarth is celebrating 7 decades of existence by launching the ‘70th Anniversary’ range for the 595, 124 Spider and 124 GT.

The package comprises of ‘70th Anniversary’ badging, which will equip all cars registered in 2019, making them allegedly more exclusive, as well as other special touches.

Using a 180 PS (177 hp / 132 kW) engine, the 595 Competizione features Brembo brakes and a Record Monza exhaust. The latter has an active valve controlled via a ‘Sport’ button, making the powertrain sound more angry. The Uconnect infotainment system, with a 7-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the Sabelt racing seats, are also standard.

The 595 Turismo, powered by a 165 PS (163 hp / 122 kW) engine, comes with leather upholstery and the same infotainment system with smartphone compatibility. The Urban Pack, with automatic headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers, is offered at no extra cost.

The entry-level 595 uses a 145 PS (143 hp / 107 kW) engine, and features a flat-bottom steering wheel with crosshairs insert, whereas the 595 Pista comes with Koni FSDs (Frequency Selective Damping), a Record Monza exhaust system and a 7-inch Abarth Telemetry that monitors ratings.

Abarth 124 70th Anniversary

Equipped with a mechanical self-locking differential and powered by a 1.4-liter turbo-four with 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque, the Abarth 124 Spider hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds and maxes out at 232 km/h (144 mph). It stands out courtesy of the ‘70th Anniversary’ badging, just like the rest of the special edition models, and comes with the Record Monza exhaust.

Named after the brand’s rally wins, the color palette includes ‘Turini 1975 White’, ‘Costa Brava 1972 Red’, ‘San Marino 1972 Black’, ‘Hessen 1972 Blue’ and ‘Alpi Orientali 1974 Gray’.

Leather seats, tachometer with red background, push-button start and sound-deadening windscreen and rear window, along with the double-layer soft top, complete the package.

Equipped with a carbon hardtop, 17-inch OZ wheels and side mirror caps in gun metal that matches the front spoiler, as well as the optional matte black bonnet treatment, carbon fiber front spoiler and mirror caps in carbon fiber or red, the 124 GT Special Edition also boasts the ‘70th Anniversary’ badge.

Sales Record for Abarth in 2019

Last year, sales of the brand went up by 36.5 percent to 23,500 units in Europe. Celebrating this achievement, the automaker will be offering several Mopar accessories at a discount to all European customers who bought one of their cars in 2018.

Owners of the 595 will be given a 20 percent discount to purchase the exclusive carbon fiber kick plate, whereas those who own a 124 Spider and 124 GT can get the transversal strut bar, at 30 percent less.

The company says the promotion, which is market specific, will run between February 1 and June 30.
