Jaguar’s first battery-electric model is the attention-grabbing I-Pace, making the British car maker one of the first major players to enter the electric arena, dominated so far by Tesla.

The electric Jaguar is also one of the first that looks like it explored the freedom that comes with having an electric powertrain, adopting an attractive and forward-thinking design.

Power comes from two electric motors mounted on each axle, providing a combined 395hp (400PS) and 513lb-ft (696Nm) of torque. Juice comes from a 90kWh battery pack, enabling the Jaguar I-Pace to travel an EPA-estimated 234 miles on a full charge.

Use a 50kW DC fast charger and you will be able to replenish the battery up to 80 percent in 90 minutes, which sounds good enough if you have one of those close to your daily commute.

Jaguar also claims a 0-60mph (97km/h) in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 124mph (200km/h), making the I-Pace a genuinely fast car in terms of acceleration.

Electric vehicles come with plenty of features that make them almost perfect for daily driving duties: instant throttle response, all the torque from zero revs, silent operation are just some of them. Jaguar however claims that the I-Pace also offers a rewarding drive and genuine charisma down the road. Does it succeed? Let’s see what Kelley Blue Book has to say about it.
