The second-generation A4 Allroad is about to get a whole lot more modern, judging by these latest spy images. Visually, it will rock new headlights and taillights, a wider Q8-like grille and a restyled bumper, all of which should help it in its fight against the 2019 Volvo V60 Cross Country.
Audi will apply the same changes to the A4 Allroad as they will to the Sedan and Avant models, which in the end will make for a proper mid-cycle makeover rather than just a model year update.
Better looking or just better?
Like with any comprehensive facelift, this one should result in a more technologically capable vehicle compared to its predecessor. Meanwhile, changes like the wider grille or the new light clusters should breathe new life into a somewhat aging product.
Like with the 2020 Sedan and Avant models, the Allroad will also gain a metal insert uniting the taillights across the entire rear fascia. We believe it is metal because it looks a little bit too thin to be a light bar.
While an argument could be made that its new front bumper looks a little less sporty than before, the end result should be a positive one, as long as you already like what Audi’s been doing on its latest models.
Dual console displays?
Seen as how the German automaker didn’t mind giving the facelifted Q7 a brand new dashboard full of the latest tech, we suspect the same will happen for the entire A4 range, regardless of body style. This means it will be in a much better position to fight off recently unveiled rivals such as the latest 3-Series or the Volvo S60.
Changes inside should also include better software, new materials and probably some new safety and connectivity features.
As for its engine range, there’s been no official word as to what we should expect, but we should learn more as the months go by. The 2020 Audi A4 Allroad will be unveiled later this year.
