If you couldn’t already tell from our comprehensive coverage of the Chevrolet C8 Corvette, we are chomping at the bit to see the new mid-engine supercar. This new spy video of the car only serves to increase our anticipation.
The following video surfaced on the Mid Engine Corvette forum and was captured by a pickup truck driver as the C8 Corvette was cold-weather testing in the U.S. Although this particular prototype is still covered in camouflage, the video does reveal some previously-unseen details of the car.
For starters, the Corvette prototype in question appears to feature diagonal LED daytime running lights incorporated into the main headlight units. The thin layer of camouflage also provides us with a better view of the car’s front bumper which includes a large grille and two prominent air intakes on either side.
Another interesting element of this C8 Corvette prototype is what appears to be a subtle lip spoiler at the rear, similar to the lip spoiler offered for certain C7 Corvette models, like the Z06. This spoiler is significantly different to the odd ‘dual-spoiler’ we’ve seen on other C8 prototypes.
Despite the emergence of new spy shots of spy videos of the mid-engine Corvette, we still don’t know when the supercar will launch. In December 2018, our hopes of a Detroit Auto Show premiere were dashed and then reports of a surprise debut on January 14 proved to be inaccurate. The current thought is that the new Corvette will launch at a standalone event in the coming months but we’re not getting our hopes up just yet.
