The worst part about being in any way incapacitated behind the wheel isn’t necessarily that you automatically put yourself at risk, but the fact that you could bring harm to other motorists as well.

According to the CHP (California Highway Patrol), the driver at fault here was 80 years old and fell asleep at the wheel. Unfortunately, that led to multiple impacts with fellow drivers, causing two vehicles to roll over after getting clipped.

The driver of the dashcam car actually steered right in order to avoid a frontal collision, which is what led to the rollover crash in the first place – we would argue that they made the right decision, seen as how they couldn’t have known their car would roll over and even if they did, it was still a preferable outcome compared to a head-on crash, especially at that speed.

Afterwards, here’s what happened: “I immediately called 911 inside of my vehicle and managed to escape through the sunroof of the vehicle. I was transported in an ambulance to Walnut Creek Kaiser hospital to be evaluated. Luckily no serious injuries reported by anyone involved.”

It’s also a good thing there wasn’t someone else driving right behind the cammer, otherwise this could have been a four vehicle accident, not that it wasn’t already sufficiently gruesome. It’s a good thing cars are as safe as they are nowadays.
