Chevy’s 2019 Corvette Grand Sport Drivers Series is a special edition model designed together with the Corvette Racing team. The automaker unveiled four differently styled versions, each with its own specific exterior color and unique graphics package.
Corvette Racing drivers Tommy Milner, Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia all worked together with Chevy designers in order to bring their own version of the vehicle to life.
“The Corvette Drivers Series celebrates Corvette Racing’s winning legacy, which is driven by a world-class team of drivers from around the globe,” said Chevrolet marketing boss Steve Majoros. “Each driver worked with Chevrolet designers on the graphics for their respective edition, giving the cars distinctly personalized appearances.”
The color and graphics packages are offered on Grand Sport 1LT, 2LT and 3LT trims and look a little something like this:
Tommy Milner Edition
This one is wearing a Shadow Grey exterior with a Torch Red center stripe and Torch Red hash marks, Carbon Flash mirrors, black wheels with red stripe and red calipers. The interior meanwhile is Adrenaline Red with red seat belts.
Jan Magnussen Edition
The Arctic White exterior features Crystal Red stripes and grey hash marks. It also comes with body-color mirrors, black wheels with red stripe and red brake calipers. Inside it’s mostly Jet Black, with contrasting red seat belts and red stitching on 3LT trim.
Tommy Milner Edition
Milner decided to go with an Elkhart Lake Blue exterior with silver stripes and red hash marks, as well as body-color mirrors, black wheels with red stripe and red calipers. The Jet Black Suede interior (leather seats on 1LT) also features red seat belts.
Antonio Garcia Edition
Here we have a Racing Yellow exterior with ‘Jake’ stinger stripe, red hash marks, Carbon Flash mirrors, black wheels with red stripe and red calipers (a reoccurring theme). As for the interior, it’s Jet Black with yellow stitching on 3LT trim.
Feel like a racer
Each car also comes with a driver-specific interior plaque, as well as other unique trim details, where 3LT spec models include carbon fiber interior trim.
“Customers can select the version of their favorite Corvette Racing driver or simply choose the one with the color and graphics that appeals the most to them,” added Majoros. “And like the drivers they represent, each special edition is a winner.”
Since these Drivers Series models are based on the Grand Sport, they also come with the same naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine, rated at 460 HP (466 PS).
Additional features include wider fenders and rear quarter panels to accommodate the larger wheels, functional brake ducts and enhanced cooling, Brembo brakes, Magnetic ride control, specific stabilizer bars, unique springs, an electronic limited-slip differential, five-position Driver Mode Selector, available Z07 package with larger carbon ceramic-matrix brake rotors and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tires, and a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel.
Meanwhile, 2LT and 3LT trims get a Front Curb View Camera, Head-up display and heated and ventilated leather-appointed seats, while the leather-wrapped interior with suede upper trim is exclusive to the 3LT.
