A black-striped Jannarelly Design-1 roadster was spotted earlier this month in a public parking lot in Dubai, making for a pretty rare sighting, even by local standards.
The Design-1 was drawn up by Anthony Jannarelly, who also designed both the Lykan Hypersport and the Fenyr Supersport. On this particular project, Jannarelly worked together with Frederic Juillot (who is the co-founder of the company) to build “a tribute to the ’60s for car lovers in search of style, self-customization and performance.”
When it was first announced, back in 2015, the Design-1 packed 308 PS (304 HP) and 371 Nm (274 lb-ft) of torque from its Nissan-sourced mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6. The 2018 spec car features the same engine and torque value, but the power output has gone up to 325 horses. Not anything to write home about, but with a weight of just 810 kg (1,785 lbs), it’s more than enough.
This version can get from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds instead of 4 seconds flat, while both boast a top speed of 220 km/h (135 mph).
So how much for one of these track toys? The initial asking price was $55,000, although when it first landed in the US, the tag read $84,000, which almost brought it up against the Porsche 911, rather than the Boxster/Cayman duo.
