Median strips don’t just help to add greenery to otherwise ugly concrete roads but they also often serve to improve safety on roads throughout the world. However, there are some people that think they’re somehow too good for medians strips.
If you’ve spent any considerable time behind the wheel of a vehicle virtually anywhere in the world, you’ve probably seen impatient drivers crossing over medians in a bid to shave a few seconds off a journey.
Oftentimes there may be a dedicated lane to do a U-turn just up the road but not all motorists can be bothered to undertake a couple extra minutes of driving. They simply drive up the curb, across the median, and down the curb on the other side.
Heck, if I was in a rush and owned a 4×4 that could easily cross a median, even I might be tempted to do the same. Not all vehicles are suitable for crossing a median, however, as a driver in Japan recently discovered.
The following video shows a tiny kei car trapped on a median after trying to cross over. It makes for a truly hilarious sight.
Excusing the fact that the video was filmed vertically (seriously, when has this ever been appropriate?), the person behind this clip did capture a truly memorable sight. What makes the whole thing even funnier is that the driver of the kei car tries to accelerate out of the mess but the front wheels can be seen spinning helplessly. The tiny van really is stuck there like a beached whale with nowhere to go.
While we’re sure someone helped the van out of this sticky situation, part of us would find it rather satisfying if the van was stuck there for days, spinning its wheels endlessly.
