The 2017 Toyota Corolla iM Formula Drift Car which competed in the 2017 Formula Drift Pro Championship was put up for sale on Bring A Trailer.

The vehicle was designed and built by Papadakis Racing and driven by Fredric Aasbo. It’s not just one of the wildest drift cars built in recent years, but also one of the most intriguing vehicles we’ve ever seen listed on Bring A Trailer.

Powering the iM Formula Drift Car is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder with nitrous injection. While this engine used to power a Toyota Camry, a multitude of modifications means it now pumps out 1000 hp and 850 lb-ft (1152 Nm) of torque. Coupled to the engine is a four-speed dog box manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels.

Some of the key engine components of the custom Corolla include four 1050 cc and four 1700 cc injectors, a pair of AEM 380 LPH fuel pumps, a Bryant Racing billet steel crankshaft, 10.5:1 forged JE pistons, Carrillo connecting rods, and a cylinder head from Portflow Design.

To build the vehicle and ensure it complied with Formula Drift standards, Papadakis Racing stripped it down to its bare chassis and proceeded to seam weld and strengthen it with a chromoly roll cage and, according to the ad, it can be updated to meet 2019 regulations for the premiere drifting series.

Inside, there are two Takata race seats with six-point harnesses, a Papadakis Racing roll cage and a complete fire suppression system. The seller says that during the 2017 season, the RWD Corolla completed roughly 200 laps. If you’re checking your bank account, you’re out of luck as the car was sold on February 22 to the highest bidder for $46,100.
