Alabama-based tuner APR has unveiled its new APR Plus and Stage 1 ECU upgrades for the VW Group’s 5.2-liter FSI V10, which means they’re compatible with models such as the Audi R8 V10, V10 Plus and RWS, as well as the Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 and LP610-4.
APR’s Stage 1 ECU upgrade was designed to offer more horsepower and torque without impacting driveability, whereas APR Plus offers a limited powertrain warranty on all APR Stage 1-upgraded vehicles running on 95 RON fuel.
By installing the Stage 1 ECU upgrades to the 5.2-liter V10 engine, you will see an overall performance increase of 104 HP and 64 lb-ft (86 Nm) of torque.
Other improvements include support for left foot braking, speed limiter removal, a raised 9,000 rpm rev limiter, fully adjusted thermal management, optimized throttle, intake and exhaust flaps, lambda control, port/DI splitting, cam phasing, more aggressive ignition timing and an update to the factory power and torque gauges.
The Stage 1 upgrade also allows for on-demand ECU program switching (up to four modes), which includes a reduced-speed valet mode and quiet cold starting. Moreover, it allows the engine to run on 91 AKI (95 RON) and 93 AKI (98 RON) gasoline and E60-E85 ethanol fuel.
Unfortunately, no straight line performance figures were released, although we can imagine that those 100 extra horses will make the already very fast R8 and Huracan a little bit livelier.
