People looking to purchase a small premium European SUV can look to Germany, Britain and Sweden for answers. However, since you can argue that the GLA has fallen behind due to its age, the E-PACE is no spring chicken itself platform-wise, and the X2 isn’t as practical as the X1, we’re only left with three choices.

Among them is the Volvo XC40, the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1, all of which come with very strong selling points, so deciding on a particular model here is not easy.

Still, according to Carwow, you can make a case for the Swede being the best of the lot. The reviewer argued that the XC40 is the “coolest” and the most comfortable, which might be the most important thing when it comes to these types of vehicles.

He also found the Audi Q3 the sportiest to drive, as well as having the best interior, while the X1 was “practical and good to drive”. In other words, you really can’t go wrong with any of them, but if you really had to choose one, we can certainly understand why it would be the Volvo.

So even if the Q3 is the most fun to drive, small SUV buyers aren’t really looking for that, generally speaking. As for its excellent interior, it’s not as if the XC40’s cabin is lackluster in any way. Fair conclusion? Sound off below.
