The Mercedes-AMG lineup has never been so vast. Nowadays, it includes sporty derivatives of almost all of the three-pointed star brand’s vehicles, and even more are on their way.

In fact, today, Mercedes-Benz’s performance sub-brand released a short teaser video on social media that previews a new model. It has the signature Panamericana grille with 15 vertical slats, which incorporates the Mercedes logo in the middle and the AMG badge close to it.

Nothing that we haven’t seen so far, but what is it? It’s too early to say, but it could be CLA 45 or the A45, with the balance tilting in favor of the latter, since the company recently let journalists ride shotgun in their prototypes. The timing is definitely right, with the new A45 expected to debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, next week.

It’s powered by a 2.0-liter four-banger, which puts out 383 horsepower. Those who want more will be able to order, for the first time ever, the A45 S, a more performance oriented model that uses a more powerful version of the same engine, rated at 416 horsepower. This is the same mill that powers the lesser A35, albeit with a new twin-scroll turbocharger and other internals.

With more power than some older supercars, an all-wheel drive system co-developed by AMG and Magna Powertrain and a Drift mode, the new A45 will be one of the most exciting mega hatches in the market, ableit with a price tag to match.
