Does a standard 1970 Dodge Charger simply not do it for you? Well, if you have the money, you could purchase one of the most remarkable Chargers out there.
The vehicle you’re looking at is dubbed ‘Tantrum’ and is currently listed for sale at Fusion Motors. The world was introduced to the car a few years ago as one of SpeedKore Performance’s most recognizable SEMA builds.
Rumbling beneath the skin of the 1970 Dodge Charger Tantrum is a Mercury Marine Racing 9.0-liter engine with two turbochargers that churns out an insane 1,650 raging horses. As you may have guessed, this is indeed a boat engine but it has been coupled to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and a Ford nine-inch rear end.
Why use a normal V8 when you can have a boat V8?
SpeedKore didn’t only throw in a new powertrain into the Charger. The tuner also made the most of its expertise in carbon fiber by crafting a body made entirely from the lightweight material. It’s no wonder why the car won the SEMA Gran Turismo award when it premiered back in 2015. The car was even driven by Vin Diesel in The Fate of the Furious and was one of the vehicular highlights of the film. Even Jay Leno had a chance to sample the car a few years ago.
Fusion Motors hasn’t published an asking price for the one-off Charger but does state that it has only ever covered 41 miles (65 km).
It would take a very, very brave person to drive a vehicle with this much power and so much immaculate carbon fiber on public roads, let alone experience all the huge V8 has to give. However, we’re sure someone will snap it up pretty quickly, even if it’s just to store the car in the hopes it will increase in value.
