A police officer in Bristol, Tennessee, has been treated for minor injuries after a huge white SUV slammed into his police cruiser.
The officer was driving his Dodge Charger pursuit car at the time when he came across a large rock slide that was covering half of the road. A sedan just in front of the police vehicle only just managed to swerve around the debris as another car traveling in the other direction came into view.
The officer, who hasn’t been named, flicked on his red and blue lights before slowing down at the rock slide. Unfortunately, the driver of what appears to be a white Cadillac Escalade coming in the opposite direction failed to see the rock slide and slammed straight into it. This sent the huge SUV flying through the sky before it smashed into the Charger police cruiser.

ABC 11 reports that the officer radioed the local communications center immediately after the impact to say that he was injured and trapped in the vehicle. When authorities arrived, he was taken to the emergency room for treatment for minor injuries. The driver in the other vehicle refused medical treatment, despite the SUV coming to a rest on its side.
It remains to be seen what triggered the rock slide but both the police officer and SUV driver should be thanking their lucky stars that they weren’t seriously injured.
