Volkswagen has chosen to highlight a safety assistance feature found in the outgoing Golf in a hilarious ad.
The video shows four friends listening to a head-banging song and having a blast during their road trip. Moments later, the driver and front passenger pass out by banging their heads together, and those sitting at the back embrace themselves for the inevitable accident that will occur.
However, the Golf is equipped with Emergency Assist, a system that can bring the vehicle to a complete stop if the sensors detect no steering, acceleration or braking activity from the driver.

Working together with the Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control, it initially attempts to wake the person behind the wheel by steering jerks. If no movement is detected, then the hazard lights are activated automatically and the brakes are fully applied so as to bring the car to a complete stop.
Despite this useful safety feature, our protagonists (wisely) –chose a calmer song for the rest of their trip, which has a sleeping pill effect on the rear passengers.
The Golf is about to get even more technology features, with the introduction of the eighth generation. It’s bound to hit assembly this summer and will aim to sit at the top of its class once again.
