A stunning 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing owned by Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s this weekend in Fort Lauderdale.
Levine has had the iconic sports car for the last six years and has been snapped by paparazzi driving it on a number of occasions. Unfortunately, few details about this specific 300 SL have been made public by the auction house.
What we do know is that it comes complete with a number-matching engine and retains the original silver paint. The cabin features dark blue leather, a number of exposed steel accents, a two-spoke steering wheel, and stunning analog gauges. A peek inside the interior also reveals that the odometer is sitting between 51,478 and 51,479 miles (82,845 km – 82,847 km), which shows that this is no garage queen.
The history of the car before Adam Levine picked up the keys hasn’t been released, but it’s clear that all previous owners have taken immaculate care of the most iconic Merc ever. The leather seats, for example, look almost new, the paint appears to be in good condition and the engine bay is also quite clean.
It is not uncommon for 300 SLs to fetch anywhere between $2 million and $3 million or more nowadays. However, perhaps owing to its mileage, Levine’s 300 SL only has a pre-auction estimate of between $1 million and $1.4 million. That’s still a lot of money, but it’s not bad considering that this is a genuine, well looked-after Gullwing.
