An exceptionally rare 1994 Porsche 968 Turbo S has been listed for sale on Early911s in Germany.

If you’ve never heard of the 968 Turbo S, we don’t blame you. Porsche only introduced the limited-run model in 1993 as an answer to the standard 968 which was being routinely outperformed by vehicles from other marques, including Nissan and Mazda.

To ensure the 968 could better compete with its rivals, Porsche’s Motorsport department decided to drop the head and turbo of the 994 Turbo S engine onto the 3.0-liter bottom end of the 968’s powertrain. This resulted in an engine with 305 hp and 368 lb-ft (498 Nm) of torque.

Alongside the fitment of a bespoke engine, the sports car gained some exterior modifications, including twin NACA ducts on the hood, a large rear spoiler, and three-piece Speedline wheels. Additionally, the suspension was dropped by 0.7-inches (20 mm) and Porsche managed to strip away 45 lbs (20 kg) of unnecessary weight.

All these modifications meant that the Porsche 968 Turbo S could actually out-perform 911 Carrera 3.8 RSR models from the same time period.

However, Porsche only ever built 14 or 15 examples (depending on the source) of the 968 Turbo S. Of those, it is thought that just 3 or 4 were built for the 1994 model year. This particular car is one of them.

The sports car retains its original white paint scheme and black leather interior and has 28,354 miles (45,630 km) under its belt. No asking price has been made public but the car’s rarity means it will likely sell for a very healthy amount.
