The C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette is just around the corner but we’ve just stumbled upon a used 1980 Corvette L-82 which could prove a tempting buy for those reminiscing about the past.
What you’re looking at is a near 40-year-old Corvette which incredibly, has just 1447 original miles (2328 km) under its belt. The eBay listing doesn’t offer much detail about the vehicle’s history but suggests that it has been stored inside for most, if not all, of its life. This would explain why it appears to be in such immaculate condition.
The seller says that the car retains all of its original components except for the battery. This means there’s even the original window sticker and of course, the owners’ manual, General Motors press kit, and all supporting documentation. The classic American sports car has been driven a few miles every year to keep everything nice, the seller asserts.
A Corvette which excites all generations
Not only does the low mileage of this Corvette make it particularly desirable, but the Dark Claret paint scheme is also particularly stunning.
In the listing, the vehicle has been described as “highly optioned” but it remains to be seen just what extras the car has. One thing we know for sure is that it is powered by the available L-82 V8 engine. Chevrolet sold the C3 Corvette with this engine for a number of years and in 1980 guise, it produced 230 hp. The car could only be ordered from the factory with an automatic transmission, not the four-speed manual which some other Corvette V8s had available at the time.
Finding classic Corvettes as pristine as this isn’t particularly easy and we don’t think the $32,500 asking price is excessive. What do you think?
