The BMW M8 is just around the corner and a prototype has been filmed lapping the Nurburgring before the car’s launch.
The first thing you’ll probably notice while watching the M8 lapping the famed German circuit is that it appears very fast. Of course, all BMW M cars are, but while the 8-Series is more of a grand tourer than a track-munching machine, the M8 does seem to be a much wilder animal. At least that much is evident both from its sound, as well as the speed with which it tackles the Nordschleife’s notoriously unforgiving corners, including the (in)famous Carousel.
With great power comes great responsibility
BMW has previously stated that the V8 under the hood of the M8 will be the same as the one in the M5, but it will allegedly be slightly more powerful, probably having close to 620 HP. In addition to the Coupe filmed here, the M8 will also be available in Gran Coupe guise.
A range-topping BMW M8 Competition is also in the works, and it will get even more grunt as well as a suspension tuned to handle track use even more impressively.
From a visual standpoint, the M8 Coupe will feature larger front air intakes than lesser 8-Series models, new wheels, colored brake calipers, a lip spoiler on the trunk lid, a small rear diffuser and quad tailpipes.
