Update: A spokesperson from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has confirmed to us that the photo allegedly showing the Alfa Romeo GTV is instead from a student project from the School of Design Milan.

A new image of Alfa Romeo’s revived GTV sports car has surfaced online, nearly  10 months after the Italian marque confirmed that it was working on a new GTV.

The following picture was shared on Twitter and appears to have been snapped during some kind of Alfa Romeo presentation event as the car was displayed on a large slide. It remains to be seen if the vehicle depicted has had its styling approved for production or if it’s subject to change.

Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice about the sporty Alfa Romeo pictured is an elongated roofline which may even offer enough headroom for two small seats to be located in the second-row. Elsewhere, you can see sharp side windows, small LED taillights, a flared rear wheel arch, and sporty black wheels sitting over red brake calipers.

A teaser released of the vehicle last year gave us a glimpse of the coupe’s front-end design. Bearing similarities to the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the new GTV incorporates an aggressive fascia with large air intakes and a long hood with bold character lines.

Powering the new Alfa Romeo GTV will reportedly be a version of the automaker’s existing 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 but boosted with a small electric motor. Alfa’s twin-turbo V6 delivers 505 hp in its current form and the addition of an electric motor will surely increase that to over 600 hp. The vehicle is also set to feature all-wheel drive with torque vectoring as well as a perfect 50-50 weight distribution.

Alfa Romeo’s current plans call for the new-age GTV to hit the market in 2021.
