As the best-selling roadster ever, there are many very exciting Mazda MX-5 Miatas out there. But regardless of how many ponies may run wild under their hoods, it’s hard to beat this one, as it features -wait for it, a Hellcat engine.
Yes, that’s right, a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 found in the Challenger and Charger, pushing out 707 horsepower, is the beast that powers this Japanese sports car, giving it a better power-to-weight ratio than some (or most) supercars.
You may remember it from another story, which we wrote a couple of months ago. Back then, the project wasn’t finished, and with so many mods required to fit the V8 in the Miata’s engine bay, not to mention other work that went into it, not many enthusiasts thought that it could be completed.

Meanwhile, the team behind it has managed to overcome all obstacles, and with the project finally finished, they hooned the heck out of it in front of a crowd. Given that they first fired up the engine about a week ago, we’d say that this video, which demonstrates the awesomeness of such a crazy build, is likely a few days old.
Since it doesn’t have a hood anymore, anyone who knows a thing or two about cars will instantly be able to tell that this isn’t the run-of-the-mill Miata. Hopefully, the guys who made it possible will spend a few more hours in the garage trying to hide that massive mod, before taking it to the drag strip to surprise everyone and, who knows, maybe to race a stock Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Now that’s a video we wanna see!
