Hennessey Performance is putting its 1000 hp upgrade package for the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 through its paces. As you may expect, the car is pretty insane.

The current Corvette ZR1 comes fitted as standard with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 pumping out 755 hp. Not only is that figure an absolute overkill for public roads, it’s also more than what most owners could use even on a racetrack.

However, Hennessey likes making big numbers even bigger, and has done just that with its this package.

During a recent dyno run, the Texas tuner’s ZR1 delivered an insane 905 hp at the rear wheels alongside a torque figure of 844 lb-ft (1144 Nm). To put those figures into perspective, this Corvette ZR1 offered up 655 hp and 645 lb-ft (874 Nm) of torque at the wheels before Hennessey started modifying its powertrain.

To create its HPE1000 Corvette ZR1, Hennessey fits a new high-flow induction system, custom camshaft, ported cylinder heads, upgraded valve springs and retainers, new intake valves, bespoke exhaust valves, upgraded lifters and pushrods, a lower pulley upgrade, stainless steel headers, and stainless steel midpipes. High-flow catalytic converters are also installed alongside a tuned ECU and an upgraded 8-speed automatic transmission to handle all the power and torque.

As Hennessey is still putting the final touches to its ZR1, we don’t yet know just how fast it is. However, we imagine this ZR1 will be able to give the rumored C8 Corvette hybrid, which will allegedly feature up to 1000 hp, a serious run for its money.
