The McLaren 600LT and Porsche 911 GT2 Rs don’t compete in the same segment of the supercar market, but off the line, it’s surprising to see that the two are very evenly matched.
To see which of the cars is the quickest off the line, Motorsport Magazine pitted a silver GT2 RS against a teal-colored 600LT on a runway for a drag race. Place your bets now because you might be shocked at what happens.
Both the cars feature extremely potent launch control systems and despite being rear wheel drive, get off the line with limited wheel spin and accelerate at frightening speeds. The GT2 RS appears to have a slight edge over the McLaren when the two get off the line and the ‘Widowmaker’ ends up retaining this advantage for the entire race.

However, the 600LT sticks much closer to the GT2 RS than one may expect, particularly when you consider that it ‘only’ has 592 hp when compared to the 690 hp offered up by the latest GT2 RS. Admittedly, the McLaren does weigh less but we didn’t expect it to stick so closely to its more expensive German counterpart.
Making the McLaren’s performance all the more impressive is that it isn’t technically a rival to the GT2 RS. The GT2 RS competes in the same market as the more powerful McLaren 720S and the new Ferrari F8 Tributo. As a result, the LT version of the McLaren 720S is bound to put the Widowmaker on notice.
