You guessed it, it’s that day of the year again, when most automakers are trying to trick us by presenting some crazy projects. Fiat’s April Fools’ Day joke is the Panda Hawaii Edition.
Created to celebrate the Cinquecento that starred in ‘The Inbetweenrs’, a TV show that aired between 2008 and 2010, it has a very distinctive flavor, thanks to its ham and pineapple color theme. The car is finished in yellow and has a red door, as clear reference to the Hawaiian pizza classic model drove by Simon Cooper in the British sitcom.

It features black plastic bumpers and a radio-cassette player. Furthermore, it won’t make anyone carsick, regardless of how twisty a road is, as it gets a 38 horsepower (39 PS / 28 kW) 899 cc overhead valve engine. The mill is another reference to the Cinquecento.
Fiat went as far as stating that since the engine “won’t let it get up to dangerous speeds”, the Panda Hawaii is suitable for first-time, teenage drivers, who will get free insurance.
All 1,419 units can be specified with anti-squirrel collision system and mild amphibious qualities to protect it in the event of a close encounter of the third kind with a pond.
“The Panda Hawaii is perfect for young men, as not only it is cheap to run, but it also attracts members of the opposite sex”, said ‘Buffo D’Aprile’, Fiat ‘spokesperson’. “What youngsters wouldn’t want to be seen in such an iconic and classic vehicle? We’ve had loads of interest and fully expect to sell all of them on the morning of their first day on sale, which is April 1st.”
Fiat will reward the first 14 customers with four free tickets to Thorpe Park, located just outside London, which include queue-jump passes for the front seats of Nemesis Inferno rollercoaster.
