Restyled Renault Master And Trafic Get New Faces, Updated Engines And New Tech

Renault’s commercial vehicle division had a busy day yesterday when it unveiled four new and facelifted models.

Besides the new Kangoo Z.E. Concept and facelifted Alaskan pickup, Renault also revealed the facelifted Trafic and Master vans. Both models feature comprehensive updates, starting with the design. The 2019MY Trafic and 2019MY Master now display the new family face of Renault’s LCV division. Both feature new headlights with similar signatures, as well as new grilles and front bumpers.

They also gain revamped interiors featuring the latest R-Link Evolution and Media Nav Evolution infotainment systems.

On the tech front, the Master now offers new driving aids such as Rear View Assist, Side Wind Assist, front parking assistance, and Blind Spot Warning. Additionally, AEB is now offered as an option across the range. The Renault Trafic gains front and rear parking sensors with rear parking camera, as well as Trailer Swing Assist.

Both vans see updates to their engines as well. The Master features a new range of 2.3-liter dCi units that now comply with the Euro6d-Temp standard. As a result, average fuel consumption drops by up to 1 liter/100 km. The new engines offer up to 180 PS (177 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque and are mated to six-speed manual or six-speed robotized transmissions.

In addition to the diesels, the Master continues to be available in an all-electric spec called Master Z.E. The electric van gains the new-generation lithium-ion 33 kWh battery that powers a 57 kW (76 PS/75 hp) electric motor shared with the Zoe. Renault claims the Master Z.E. offers a real-world driving range of 120 km (75 miles).

As for the Trafic, it comes with updated 2.0-liter dCi engines with outputs ranging from 120 PS (118 hp) to 170 PS (167 hp). For the first time, the EDC6 dual-clutch automatic transmission is also available for the top engine as an alternative to the standard manual. The engines are also Euro6d-Temp compliant, and are said to reduce fuel consumption by 0.6 liters/100 km.
