The Taycan is scheduled to make its official debut in September, yet Porsche has recently given a handful of journalists the opportunity to ride in its first all-electric sedan during winter testing in Scandinavia. Roadshow was among those to get up-close with the Taycan and have many positive things to report.
Porsche has been testing the all-electric Taycan in the Arctic Circle for over a year and it seems evident that the sedan is now quite at home on roads covered with snow and ice.

Roadshow reports that, from the passenger seat, the Taycan appears incredibly composed and can be enjoyed just as much any other Porsche. The range-topping version, for example, is powered by a pair of electric motors delivering in excess of 600 hp. This model also includes a limited-slip differential at the rear to ensure both wheels receive appropriate levels of power.
Interestingly, they discovered that Porsche is developing some kind of artificial engine noise for the Taycan. It remains to be seen what this will sound like and whether or not it will be designed for occupants or used as a warning to pedestrians that an all-electric Porsche is behind them.
Porsche confirmed last week that the Taycan has been testing in 30 countries across the globe in temperatures ranging between -35 and 50 degrees Celsius (-31 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit) and at altitudes of up to 3000 meters (9843 feet) above sea level. What’s more, fleets of prototypes have covered in excess of 6 million kilometers (3.7 million miles) of driving with more than 1,000 test drivers, engineers, and technicians onboard.
