VW has debuted the sixth ID concept at the Shanghai Auto Show; the ID Roomzz is the biggest member of the EV family, adopting a three-row SUV bodystyle and a cleverly arranged interior.
The production version of the VW ID Roomzz, which has already been confirmed for 2021, will be positioned above the ID Crozz in the range and offer more interior space than a Touareg thanks to its superior packaging.
It will be based on a bigger version of VW’s MEB platform, with the concept featuring a 2,965mm (116.7 inches) long wheelbase and sliding doors.
The powertrain combines two electric motors for a system output of 302hp (306PS / 225KW), enabling the ID Roomzz to hit 62mph (100km/h) from a standstill in 6.6 seconds. Top speed is set at 112mph (180km/h).
The battery pack comes with a capacity of 82kWh and is mounted unsurprisingly under the floor, giving the biggest ID model a driving range of up to 279 miles (450km) on the stricter WLTP cycle. Compatibility with 150kW DC fast charging also allows the ID Roomzz to fill its battery up to 80 percent in around 30 minutes.
The new ID Roomzz’s interior comes with plenty of seating configurations, offering more flexibility and a lounge-like feel when the Level 4 autonomous driving function is enabled. The cockpit is fully digital and covered in glass, with the steering wheel also featuring a fully digital face and the ability to retract when in autonomous mode.
