If you’re hoping to land BMW’s all-new 8-Series Convertible in M850i xDrive spec, it will set you back at least $121,400 in the U.S.
As for getting it with a BMW Individual Dravit Grey Metallic exterior, that’s another $1,950, which at that point may not seem like that big of an “investment”, especially when you consider the fact that this a luxury product.
Now, whoever ordered this particular car through BMW Abu Dhabi, also went for the 20-inch M V-spoke dual tone Orbit Grey wheels, to match the exterior, helping this M850i xDrive Convertible look both menacing and a little stealthy, which is good if you don’t want your car to assault bystanders’ eyes with some extremely bright exterior color.
No expenses spared?
This drop-top Bimmer features a dual-tone Fiona Red/Black Extended Merino leather interior with white contrast stitching and various aluminum inserts, as well as stainless steel trim for the center console.
It’s a rather flashy color combination, at least it is compared to the exterior. With on-board tech, we’d rather not play the guessing game here, but it’s unlikely this car is missing a lot of gear in terms of safety, convenience and connectivity.
Powering the M850i xDrive Convertible is a 4.4-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine, feeding all four wheels a total of 530 PS (523 HP) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque, with the aid of an eight-speed automatic. In a straight line, it will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and max out at an electronically-limited 250 km/h (155 mph).
Last but not least, there’s the retractable soft-top, which raises and lowers in 15 seconds at speeds of up to 30 mph (48 km/h). The 8-Series Convertible also comes with an automatic rollover protection system that deploys two high-strength aluminum roll bars (takes a fraction of a second) in the event of a rollover crash.
