With the official reveal date, set for July 18, fast approaching, more prototypes of the new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette C8 continue to be spotted out in the open.
The latest convoy was seen on the I65 earlier this week, heading to Nashville, Tennessee, according to Instagram user Atsam, who shared a few videos and a picture taken on sight.
We counted no less than 5 prototypes of the new Corvette, which at a rumored 500 hp (507 PS / 373 kW) each in the entry-level model, produced by the 6.2-liter V8 engine, totals to 2,500 horsepower, but it could easily be a lot more than that if we’re talking about higher-end models.
The V8, mounted in the middle of the car, is paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that channels output to the rear axle. It’s unknown at this point when or whether a manual gearbox option will follow, though it’s hard to imagine Chevy not eventually offering one.

Retaining the Stingray moniker, the base Corvette C8 will be followed by more powerful versions. In top guise, the new ‘Vette is believed to be able to go against the most powerful supercars in the world delivering between 900 and 1,000 hp (912-1,014 PS / 671-746 kW). It will be capable of staggering performance, likely taking less than 3 seconds for the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration.
Subsequent to its mid-summer reveal, the new-gen Corvette will go on sale in the coming months. Before seeing it in an official environment, with no camo covering its sculpted body, we expect Chevy to drop more details about it. Until that happens, though, let’s take a few moments and watch the convoy on the highway.
