America’s long-time big family workhorse, the minivan, has been replaced by the three-row SUV as the vehicle of choice.
When you think about it, these are currently the ultimate all-rounder vehicles money can buy. Not only do they accommodate a bunch of people and their stuff, but can also veer off the beaten path, pack plenty of tech and, most importantly, do not scream “boring family van” but “adventurous off-roader” – or that’s supposed to be the public’s perception, at least.
These three models picked by Redline Reviews are among the hottest three-row SUVs on sale today in the United States. Two of them are new (the 2020 Kia Telluride and 2019 Subaru Ascent) to the market, while the third, the 2019 VW Atlas, is definitely not old, but has been around for two years now.

While the design is a personal preference, the model that looks the most fresh among these three is the Kia Telluride — and not just because it’s the newest. The Ascent and the Atlas look a bit bland and predictable, whereas the Telluride sports some original design elements.
With that out of the way, there are some significant differences between them. The Atlas is the biggest of the bunch, but only offers front-wheel-drive as standard equipment. The Telluride is slightly smaller and also comes with front-wheel drive as standard. The Ascent is the only one here that, in typical Subaru fashion, offers all-wheel drive as standard. It’s also got a turbo engine, but it’s the smallest inside.
Obviously, each has its strong and weak points, but in many ways, the Kia splits the difference between the VW and the Subaru. Does that mean it’s the best of the bunch? Watch the video to find out.
