We’re a little over one week away from McLaren unveiling their brand new Grand Tourer model, the fourth car announced under the British automaker’s Track25 business plan.

The reveal will take place online on Wednesday, May 15th, 2019 at 13:00 BST (08:00 EST), although we’ll be keeping an eye out for any potential leaks prior to that time. According to McLaren the upcoming GT shares the same DNA as the Speedtail Hyper-GT model.

What should I expect?

For starters, you’ll want to hold onto this link in order to see more of the car and experience the reveal live. Once out, the new GT will take its place alongside existing Sports Series and Super Series models, although its purpose will clearly be different as it seeks to “redefine the rules of the Grand Tourer segment, introducing renowned McLaren engineering and dynamic attributes alongside high-quality materials and exceptional comfort.”

Visually, the new GT appears to boasts a cleaner exterior design compared to any other modern-day McLaren. A more elegant exterior does of course make sense, if this is to be a car best-suited for long journeys.

“It will be a car that combines competition levels of performance with continent-crossing capability, wrapped in a beautiful lightweight body. It’s a car that has been designed for distance and one that will also provide the comfort and space expected of a grand tourer,” said McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt. “But it will also have a level of agility never experienced before in this segment. In addition, it will be the lightest of grand tourers and, by also having the best power-to-weight ratio, I promise it will be one of the quickest.”

While it’s still unclear which power train will make its way into the new GT, odds are it will produce north of 600 horses.
