If there was one car which you’d never think would be turned into a drag racer, it would have to be a tiny first-generation Fiat Uno.
This menacing little Uno has been on the drag racing scene in Europe for a number of years and is utterly absurd.
Powering the car is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine from a Lancia Delta. The engine has been stroked to 1.6 liters, revs to more than 9,000 rpm and pumps out 600 hp. Yes, this 1.6-liter four-cylinder has 600 hp…

What’s perhaps even crazier than the car’s power is that all of its grunt is sent through the front wheels. Whereas typical drag cars are fitted with fat tires at the rear and tiny tires at the front, this Fiat Uno is the opposite and has a set of huge tires at the front axle. It looks utterly absurd and much to our surprise, doesn’t appear to suffer from a great deal of torque steer.
During a recent run at the Wide Open Spring National 2019 event, the car recorded a best quarter mile time of 9.4-seconds at 258 km/h (160 mph). Any car which can dip below the 10-second mark in the quarter mile is exceptionally quick and seeing a bright orange Fiat Uno achieve such a feat really boggles the mind.
If we were able to change one thing about this Uno, we’d probably convert it to rear-wheel drive – just to spice things up even more…
