The 2020 Toyota GR Supra has been the subject of controversy from the moment it was revealed that the car was to be created with the help of BMW.
However, what could the new Supra look like if Toyota had decided against partnering with BMW on its latest sports car and instead joined forces with a different car manufacturer? Aussie website Budget Direct published a series of renderings showing how the Supra may have turned out if other brands helped make it.

The first rendering imagines the Supra if it was created with the help of Aston Martin. The finished product brings together styling of the Toyota and the current Aston Martin Vantage and actually looks surprisingly good. Also rendered is a Mercedes-AMG Supra. The exterior design of the car hasn’t been overhauled massively but does include a new front fascia with air intakes like those of the AMG GT models. If Mercedes were to have developed the new Supra, it probably would have crammed a boosted V8 engine under the hood.
Other companies with their own Supras rendered in this list include Tesla, Nissan, Peugeot, Volvo, and Ferrari. However, it is the Chevrolet Supra which we are the most intrigued by as it has arguably undergone the most comprehensive makeover. The design brings with it aspects of the C7-generation Corvette, making for a seriously-mean looking front-engine sports car.
While the new Supra may not be all-Toyota, the truth is that it likely wouldn’t exist if not for the technical partnership with BMW. After driving the car during its global premiere, we can also say that it is a sensational sports car so we’re not worried that BMW was involved.
