2021 Ford F-150 Will Retain Its Good Looks – But That’s Only Half The Story

It’s not the first time Ford has been caught testing the next-gen F-150, but this time we got a pair of camouflaged trucks in both Super Cab and Crew Cab bodystyles.

Ford tried its best to hide the design of the next F-150, applying a wrap that will certainly make you dizzy if you go looking for the differences. That been said, don’t expect huge design changes from America’s best-selling truck, as the theme here is more evolution than revolution. With over 909,000 F-150s sold in 2018, it’s hard to fault their logic, as it would be suicide to change a winning team.

Dearborn has already confirmed that 90 percent of the manufacturing equipment used to build the current F-150 can -and probably will- be reused for the next-generation model. After all, Ford wants to make the most out of their massive investment made in the current generation, which features an aluminum-intensive construction.

What will change is the powertrain range. Ford has confirmed both hybrid and full-electric versions for the 2021 F-150, alongside the usual petrol variants. Whether we’ll see a diesel option in the next F-150 remains a question mark for now, but given that U.S. customers detest them, we wouldn’t bet on it.

The 2021 Ford F-150 is almost certain going to receive an overhaul for its cabin; with rivals like the RAM 1500 stealing the show with its impressive interior, Ford will certainly respond with a cabin made out of better materials and filled to the brim with cutting-edge tech, including things like a digital instrument cluster and an updated infotainment system with a bigger touchscreen display. Active safety systems will also play a major part of the next Ford F-150, which is also expected to receive the company’s latest semi-autonomous technology.
