Following the electric McLaren P1 Ride-On unveiled in 2016, the automaker has unveiled its successor, the 720S Ride-On.

The goal is the same: to help children catch the McLaren bug from a very early age — as early as three, actually. As with the real-life McLaren 720S that inspires it, the ride-on version is said to offer “unparalleled driver involvement,” taking the genre “to the next level of McLaren authenticity.”

“Drivers” between three and six years of age can choose from seven authentic colors that are part of the real 720S palette: Azores Orange, Belize Blue, Lantana Purple, Onyx Black, Mauvine Blue, Silica White, and Saros Grey. There’s also the exclusive launch color Papaya Spark available later in the year only through McLaren Retailers.

The diminutive 720S even features functioning dihedral doors combined with exposed carbon-style elements, as well as other signature 720S styling cues that make it very clear where the ride-on version got inspiration from.

Unlike the V8-powered McLaren 720S, the smaller version features an electric motor operated by a working accelerator pedal with added engine sounds. The 720S Ride-On also features a brake function with brake light and a dashboard display offering key information including driving range.

The screen also houses the infotainment system, with buttons for different functions on the dashboard. For example, kids can listen to music or watch a short movie by plugging a USB or SD card into the sockets provided. A selection of popular songs for six-year-olds is pre-loaded into the system.

The McLaren 720S Ride-On is priced from £315 ($400), making it seven hundred times more affordable than a real 720S Coupe.
