As if to not be outdone by GM’s Marketplace platform, Fiat Chrysler has just announced the launch of its own in-vehicle market commerce ecosystem, which allows you to make purchases or reservations using the car’s touchscreen infotainment display.
UConnect Market will let you find the nearest gas station, save money on fuel purchases and choose a place to eat starting in the second half of 2019.
Developed in partnership with Seattle-based Xevo, the platform will be available on 2019 and 2020 model year Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles, equipped with connected services and the latest generation of 8.4-inch displays.
“Our customers live busy lives, and our goal with the Uconnect platform is to provide an advanced portfolio of services to make their daily drive more convenient, productive and enjoyable,” said Alan D’Agostini, global head of connected services at FCA. “This is why we are launching Uconnect Market, as we continue to ramp-up our connectivity efforts around the world with the goal of having all new FCA vehicles connected by 2022.”

FCA customers will thus be able to interact with a wide range of merchants such as Shell, Domino’s, ParkWhiz and Yelp Reservations, while services include Wallet, Service, Fuel, Food and Parking.
With Wallet, you can set up your Uconnect Market account, while the Service function allows you to find and schedule an appointment with a certified Mopar service center. As for Fuel, Food and Parking, the first previews a list of nearby fuel stations and can even authorize a fuel pump charge at participating Shell stations through the Shell Pay & Save program.
Finally, the Food service uses Yelp to display a list of nearby restaurants, while Parking allows you to find, book and pay for parking at thousands of garages across North America, using ParkWhiz.
