The Murcielago used to be Lamborghini’s flagship supercar. That title was passed on to the Aventador in 2011, but despite that, the older model is still very exciting. It also looks and sounds great, and the 640 PS (631 hp / 471 kW) 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 ensures a very dizzying experience.

Ever since the Murcielago left production, a lot of things have happened over at Lamborghini. The Aventador has gained many special editions and several updates, with the most desirable one being the SVJ.

More notably, though, the Italian company launched the Urus, their second SUV after the LM002, which combines supercar-like acceleration in an SUV body.

As fate would have it, the old dog bull pinned against the Murcielago not long ago. The drag race took place somewhere in Germany, during a special event that saw several high-end models taking part. The camera recorded the race between the Urus and Murcielago, which starts at the 2:06 mark in the video shared right below.

As for the performance specs, the Urus’ 4.0-liter, 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) twin-turbo V8 allows it to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds. That’s only two tenths of a second slower than the Murcielago, which is about 450 kg (990 lbs) lighter. The official times are pretty close, though, and in the real world things might not be that clear-cut. We would be reluctant to place a bet on either of these – how about you?
