The latest Lego Speed Champions model has just been unveiled in the form of the iconic 1974 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0.
The model, priced at $14.99 in the U.S., consists of 180 individual pieces including a minifigure equipped with a helmet. There is also a removable windshield and a ‘whale tail’ rear spoiler just like the real-life 911 Turbo. A trio of cones are also included in the set and this summer, the Lego Speed Champions 1974 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 will be added to Forza Horizon 4.
Marketed as the Porsche 930, the sports car in question was built between 1975 and 1977 in 3.0-liter guise and limited to just 2819 units worldwide.

Not only was the sports car the first 911 Turbo but it was actually built to gain homologation for the 1976 racing season. It also proved to be a runaway success for Porsche’s road car division. In 3.0-liter specification, the car’s turbocharged flat-six pumped out 256 hp at 5500 rpm and 243 lb-ft (329 Nm) of torque at 4000 rpm. This was enough to send early models to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a touch over 5 seconds and through to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Alterations made to the Turbo over lesser 911 models weren’t limited to the engine. Porsche also developed a stronger gearbox for the sports car while also tweaking its suspension system and fitting larger brakes. The aforementioned ‘whale tail’ of the car and featured on the Lego Speed Champions model is certainly one of its most defining characteristics.
