Pininfarina is known mostly for designing, and lately building, cars, but it actually dabbles in various fields, one of them being bicycles, where it got involved in four years ago with the first SK.
Fast forward to 2019, and the Italian design house has an all-new SK bicycle out, which has been created for De Rosa. Said to have “strong innovative elements”, the bike is more aerodynamic and features new seat and top tubes, as well as integrated cables in the chassis and a redesigned fork.

According to the De Rosa, which has made a solid name for itself in the 1960s and 1970s for making road-racing bicycles, the new SK’s polished frame tips the scales at only 950 grams (a little over two pounds) in its medium size, whereas the fork alone weighs another 370 grams (0.81 lbs). It will be offered in frame sizes from 460 to 600, sporting the brand’s lettering, special decals and new heart logo, all of which have been designed by Pininfarina.
“Working on the brand means for us operating on the soul of a company”, said Chairman Paolo Pininfarina. “With De Rosa, we found the perfect match of vision and values – as it has been with the great success of the SK – indeed, we are very glad to strengthen the partnership with this new model and to start imagining future developments together.”
De Rosa didn’t say anything about the pricing and availability of the new SK, but the old one isn’t a bike is available in Italy from €2,500 ($2,847), so expect something similar.
