The 2020 model year Jeep Wrangler is set to benefit from a series of upgrades, including the addition of a hybrid powertrain for the Unlimited Sahara model.
The JR Wrangler Forums recently unearthed spec sheets detailing all 2020 Wrangler models.
These sheets reveal that the Wrangler Unlimited Sahara will now be offered with FCA’s standard Pentastar 3.6-liter V6, a 3.6-liter E-Torque V6 engine, and a 2.0-liter inline-four E-Torque engine. These latter two powertrains include a 48-volt mild hybrid system and the Ram 1500 is already offered with the 3.6-liter hybrid V6.

Interestingly, the Wrangler Unlimited Sahara is the only 2020 model to be available with either of these two E-Torque Engines. Other models, such as the Unlimited Sport and Unlimited Rubicon, are only available with the standard non-hybrid 3.6-liter V6 and 2.0-liter inline-four.
Both the 3.6-liter E-Torque and 2.0-liter E-Torque engines attract a price premium over the standard powertrains. For example, opting for the 3.6-liter E-Torque mild-hybrid V6 adds $1000 to the vehicle’s starting price. Combine that with the eight-speed automatic transmission which the engine is offered exclusively with and the total price for the powertrain rises to $3000. The 2.0-liter E-Torque can be purchased for $1000 less in the same configuration.
Although not detailed in these documents, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler is also expected to be available with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel. This powertrain was recently added to the Ram 1500 and pumps out 260 hp and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque.
