Introduced in May 2018, the Rogue Hybrid is no longer available in the United States.
Nissan recently announced pricing of the 2020 Rogue, but did not mention the hybrid version at all in the press release. According to Autoblog, that’s because it has been dropped from the lineup – and Nissan spokesman Kevin Raftery confirmed the news to the publication.
We contacted Nissan to learn more about this and got a response from the same representative via email. “Yes – confirming that Nissan will not offer the Rogue Hybrid for model year 2020 in the U.S.,” Raftery wrote. “The hybrid was a small part of the overall mix for Rogue sales. For the 2020 model, we are focusing our effort on the 2.5L Rogue, which offers outstanding fuel efficiency for our consumers,” he added. So there you have it, the Rogue Hybrid is gone because of poor sales.

Priced $2,800 higher than a regular Rogue, the hybrid version does not offer that much in return. It is only 5 mpg more efficient on the EPA’s combined cycle than the regular model which means a driver would only save approximately $200 a year in fuel costs, so it would take 14 years to break even on gas savings. Small wonder buyers weren’t that interested, then…
The launch of the all-new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is probably another reason for the Rogue Hybrid’s demise. The Toyota in AWD configuration returns 7 more miles per gallon than the equivalent Nissan version, making the choice between the two models a no brainer.
In any case, those who still want a Rogue Hybrid can still get it as there are many 2019 models available. The Rogue Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine mated to an electric motor and a CVT for a combined output of 176 HP.
