If you live in a country where there’s at least one Porsche dealership, and in that dealership you can choose between the automaker’s 911-series models and the 718 Boxster, odds are that opting for the latter isn’t something you’ll regret.
That goes double if you can swing for the fences and get the range-topping GTS version with its mid-mounted 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit, producing 365 HP.
As it turns out, this exact car in this exact spec isn’t a compromise, and Carwow’s Mat Watson figures that if you’ve got the money to spend, you should probably just go right ahead and buy the Boxster GTS because of the way it drives and the way it looks.
One thing he didn’t like though was the engine note, but that’s probably something you can overcome easily by fitting your car with an aftermarket exhaust – unless you don’t care about that type of thing, of course.

Otherwise, the car was a blast to drive, hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds and going around corners extremely flat, as you would expect from any two-door Porsche.
In the U.S. you can buy a 718 Boxster from $59,000, although if you want the car to be at its best, or very close to it, then you’ll probably want the GTS version, which will set you back at least $82,800. However, that’s still nearly $10,000 cheaper than a base 911 Carrera.
So which of the two would you rather have? A 718 GTS or the base-spec 911?
