A video showing a man in Virginia revving the hell out of his C5 Chevrolet Corvette until the muscle car catches fire and burns to the ground has surfaced online.
The clip was captured by Facebook user R Patrick O’Connor IV and shows the ‘Vette being revved while parked in front of a row of houses, allegedly in the middle of the night. Not only would this have seriously annoyed all of those within earshot of the car but, before long, things turned downright dangerous as smoke started to billow out out of the car.
As the driver leaves the throttle pinned for well over a minute, flames and sparks can be seen out of the exhaust and under the car. Despite this, he continues to rev the heart out of the engine until, suddenly, huge flames start to spew out from under the car and spread up and over the driver’s side door. What’s even more incomprehensible is that, while he climbs out of the car, a few seconds later he appears to try and jump back into it even as the flames start to take hold.

Shortly afterwards, the car is completely engulfed in flames – and, to make matters worse, a red Mazda next to it also catches fire.
“Rescue Engine 521 recently ran a vehicle fire in a residential area of 21’s due,” a Facebook post from the City of Manassas Fire Rescue Department reads. “The fire started in a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette and spread to an adjacent Mazda, causing a complete loss of both vehicles. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshals Office. The quick actions of the Rescue Engine crew prevented additional vehicles from being involved.”
It’s unclear why the man was revving the car but a woman in the video can be heard stating that the car’s owner is “always drunk.” Which might or might not be the case, but his actions surely don’t make much sense, do they?
