The C8 Corvette is fast approaching its global premiere on July 18, and the American car manufacturer has released a new video teasing the mid-engine supercar.
The clip, entitled ‘It’s almost time to reveal its true colors,’ shows a number of C8 prototypes undergoing testing. The video also includes an image of Zora Arkus-Duntov, the man who pushed Chevrolet for decades to build a mid-engine Corvette. A picture of Zora’s face has also been placed digitally on the wheels of a C8 prototype featured, perhaps indicating that the finished car will include some kind of reference to Zora.

Chevrolet decided against unveiling the C8 Corvette at a major auto show, opting for a special event in Orange County, California on July 18. Everything will be streamed online from 7:30 pm PDT / 10:30 pm EDT. After the car is revealed, it will embark on dealership tours across the United States to provide customers with the chance to see the vehicle up close and learn about the best ways to personalize it.
Reports assert that the new Corvette will initially be presented in entry-level ‘Stingray’ guise. It is understood that this vehicle will feature a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 from GM, similar to the engine used by the C7 Corvette and Camaro. However, the C8’s engine will be known as the LT2 and benefit from a series of modifications, including updates to the active fuel management system. It is expected to deliver between 480 and 500 HP and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque.
