Renting an electric scooter can be a convenient way to get through narrow and congested city streets.
However, that’s about all they’re good for. Electric scooters should not be ridden on the highway under any circumstance but that’s exactly what one commuter recently did in Dallas, Texas.
This dashcam video from a Texas local shows traffic flowing slowly along the 35 highway when out of nowhere, a man riding an electric scooter comes into view. The man can initially be seen in the left-most lane with cars following him closely behind.

As the video continues, the cammer can be heard shouting “Bro! What are you doing?!” as the scooter rider cuts across six lanes of traffic to eventually get over to the right. As if simply riding an electric scooter, which appears to be one from LimeBike, on a highway wasn’t stupid enough, the man is wearing a set of headphones, likely blocking out the sound of traffic around him.
While it could be possible to accidentally ride an electric scooter onto a highway in an area you’re unfamiliar with, the fact that the rider was traveling in the left lane indicates to us that this was no mistake. And no, we really can’t imagine what went through his mind…
As the man aggressively cuts across traffic, it is certainly possible that he could have been struck by an inattentive driver and seriously injured or even killed. Here’s hoping police get their hands on this video and ensure this doesn’t happen again.
