Subaru has launched the production of the new 2020 Legacy and Outback models at its Indiana factory in the U.S.
The production launch of the all-new 2020 Legacy and Outback models was accompanied by a ceremony for the factory employees.
Subaru’s new mid-size models benefit from the company’s latest global platform which gives them much better rigidity and refinement, as well as improved handling and safety. The new Legacy and the new Outback can be optioned with either a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-four unit or a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine.

Base models come with 182hp and 176lb-ft of torque, while the turbo XT models offer 260hp and 277lb-ft of torque. In both cases, customers are stuck with a CVT transmission, which is the sole option, and of course the company’s trademark Symmetrical AWD system as standard.
“We’ve been preparing for this day for more than two years,” said Scott Brand, senior vice president at Subaru’s Indiana factory. “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our associates, we are launching the newest generation of these two iconic models with the highest quality our customers expect.”
Other new features of the 2020 Subaru Legacy and Outback include a wide range of driver assistance and connectivity systems and an optional tablet-style 11.6-inch infotainment system with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
“The new Legacy and Outback will provide customers with greater safety, technology and performance than ever before,” said Brand. “I’m proud of the commitment and teamwork that has made these vehicles a reality. I’m also excited for our customers.”
