The Ford Mustang isn’t your typical track-day car, but it was subjected to a timed lap at the Hockenheim GP, proving yet again that it takes a lot of experience to master it.

During the recorded run, you can see the skilled Uwe Sener concentrating to keep it between the apexes and trying to overcome the understeer. Two minutes and 1.2 seconds after setting off, the Mustang crossed the finish line, a few tenths of a second quicker than the Alpine A110 and 3 tenths slower than the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S.

The driver lost his concentration shortly after beginning the timed lap, when the American muscle car decided that it would be a good idea to open the glove box by itself, forcing him to take his eyes off the road and right hand off the steering wheel, reach over and close it. Luckily, everything went smooth and the only thing lost were some seconds…

Sener, who’s also the main driver behind most of the recorded lap times in production cars at the Hockenheim GP, drove the GT version of the Mustang, which is powered by a 5.0-liter V8. Its 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) and 529 Nm (390 lb-ft) are channeled to the rear axle via a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic gearbox. This was stick shift version, which accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds, 0.3 seconds slower than the auto, and has an identical top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
