Porsche has reported its global deliveries in the first half of the year were 133,484 vehicles, a 2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2018.

During this time, their operating profit went up by 3 percent to €2.2 billion ($2.4 billion) and sales revenue grew by 9 percent, to €13.4 billion ($15 billion). The company’s workforce also saw a 5 percent increase, to 33,839 employees.

“Our half-year result is a solid basis for a successful business year 2019”, said Chairman of the Executive Board, Oliver Blume. “One success factor behind this is our attractive product range. In the first six months of this year, we have launched a range of innovative, emotive products onto the market, with the new 911, the 911 Cabriolet, Cayenne Coupe, 911 Speedster, 935, 718 Spyder and GT4.”

Leading the pack was the Macan. The premium compact SUV remained Porsche’s most popular model, with 47,367 units sold, while the (larger) Cayenne was favored by 41,725 customers, which represented a 45 percent increase.

In China, the automaker posted a 28 percent growth up to the end of June, whereas in the Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, they shipped a total of 57,397 cars, or 20 percent more than last year, and sales in the U.S.A. went up by 3 percent, to 30,257 examples.

Before the end of the year, sales are expected to increase furthermore, pulled by some of the new products launched, including the Cayenne Coupe, which arrived at dealers in May, and the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4. Additionally, Porsche will enter the highly competitive electric segment with the Taycan, which will arrive in dealerships at the end of the year.
